Dagan started his life out as a guide dog in training. At the age of 16 months, he was released from his training program due to luxating patellas. He's now just a dog, living and loving the people who raised him.

11 Things at 11 Months
How did another month slip away so quickly?!?! I turned 11 months old yesterday! I know, this is a day late, but we have been busy! We spent yesterday in Benicia visiting my grandparents for Papa's birthday. He's 81! Yowsa!
So, what 11 things should I say about myself?? I guess I'll give it a try.
1) I do NOT like having flour thrown all over me! It gets in your eyes and everywhere! Yuck! It makes me put my sad ears on for at least 12 hours. BUT, my stand/stay was amazing while Mom ran to get the camera.
2) I recover quickly from most anything that upsets me. After being nipped by Dad's friend's dog, I was initially upset. But, it only hurt my feelings for a minute. Though I may initially startle at something, I figure it out pretty quickly.
3) My down stays have improved, with more and more distraction. I rock!
4) Sometimes, we have things that we still need to work on - or new things that develop along the way. This month, I have become totally distracted by my peeps. I love them! And I want to show them that I do. But, I'm working on learning to control myself.
5) I've become a champ at doctors offices! Score! Mom has had to go visit the doctor a couple times this month. I've sat through appointments, hung out in the lab and pharmacy. I rocked the X-ray area. And I sat soooo still during blood draws.
6) I rocked "Go To Bed" today! We went to a BBQ at a friend's house and there were 3 boys that were playing on my GTB mat. Mom told me to GTB. I found room for each of my paws to touch the mat around the boys, then just plopped myself down. I think I only squished one or two of them.
7) I am learning to be gentle with people. Grandma hurt her leg recently. As much as I love her and wanted to come running into the house to say hello, but I had to wait and walk patiently over to her. I did well though.
8) I finally learned to like my new dog bed! It is where I would actually like to be right now!
9) Home alone! I'm doing fabulous about being trustworthy when left home alone.
10) I'm loving Dad's drums! I heard his entrance on a song at church today and started wagging. Makes me happy to hear him! Only thing that would make me happier would be if I was allowed to run up on stage with him.
11) Mom doesn't like that I hit 11 months. Each time we hit the 28th, it is just one month closer to my turn in. While she knows I have to go off to college, she really wishes she could run for Mexico and hang with me forever.
Here's to another month!

Oops!
My day didn't start off well today. First, the people around here decided to sleep in. Who does that?!?! Don't they know that there are dogs and cats to feed? OK, one dog, but I was hungry enough for two! I was pretty sure that I was going to pass out from hunger! My breakfast was an entire HOUR late! But, it only got worse from there.
Mom was going to make cookies for a picnic and a BBQ that we were going to later in the day. Being the sweet boy that I am, I decided to hang with her in the kitchen to help if needed. She started pulling out the stuff we needed to make cookies. First out came the flour. Mom thought it would be a good idea to shake the airtight container a bit to loosen up the flour. But, she jostled it a bit, the top came flying off, then landed back in the container, spewing flour out all over the place. I didn't find the outcome amusing.
As I stood there, trying to figuring out what to do, Mom and Dad are laughing their fool heads off. Then Mom is telling me to stand still, cause she had to get the camera. Umm... Hello?!?! I have stuff all over me! What am I supposed to do with that?? Do you know how hard it is to NOT shake that stuff off me??
I used my cuteness to try and get them to let me shake, but that didn't work either. Mom rushed me outside, so I could shake it all over the yard. Once I got most of it off, we came back in to clean up the house. But, I still looked a bit off.
Mom continued to giggle at me, saying that we now know what I will look like as an old dog. I didn't think it was funny.
Again, I used the cuteness to get someone to help me. Dad finally got a wet towel and wiped me down until I looked like myself again.
But, for some reason, if someone pats my head, I now poof just a little. I'm hoping that will stop soon.

Pictureless Post - sort of!
OK, I am going against the Wordless Wednesday theme today and doing a picture-less post. Well, sort of! On Saturday, Mom, Dad and I went to San Francisco to visit the Exploratorium. Mom was excited to get lots of cool pictures of me! Cause, who wouldn't be excited about getting more pictures of me?!?!
SO, we get there. We watch a video of geometry. Mom has the camera strap around her wrist. She takes a picture of me in the theater. We wander out to start the exhibits. We look at a couple things, then play with the ooblek display. Mom handed my leash off to Dad and wanted to take a picture. Only, the camera wasn't there! Huh?!?! Dad didn't have it. Mom's purse didn't have it. It wasn't on Mom's wrist. We searched the theater. We looked around the exhibits that we had visited. How far could it have gone?!?! It had only been like 10 minutes!
GONE! Nowhere to be found. Not in Lost and Found. Nowhere. Someone now has about 1000 pictures of me! Fabulous! While I'm sure that they are stoked to have a new camera and that many pictures of my cute face (let's face it, who wouldn't love that?!?) Mom was way bummed about her camera escaping. It was so cute and Nikon purpley.
I went on to rock the Exploratorium. Personally, I think they should have fewer "hands on" exhibits and add some "paws on" stuff. Not a whole lot for me to do. And Mom was amazed that I didn't have more kids mobbing me! Many of the parents were telling their kids that I was working and talking about how they should treat me. Some of the kids were telling their parents the same thing! I did get some pets in, which made me happy.
Still, there was the camera bummer of the day. But, with every dark cloud comes a silver lining, right?? Welcome cute powder blue Canon! Mom is super happy with it, despite missing her old camera (or the card, any way!)
So, without further ado, here are pictures from the new blue camera!
Hey Lady - I was trying to sleep! What do you mean there is something on my face? What was that? I can't hear you right - you are muffled, yet ringing!
Yep, I'm sleeping with one eye open from now on! I gotta know when that camera is coming!
OK! Enough already! You don't need to put all 1000 pictures back on the card the same day!
Hopefully, we will have many more great pictures to come!

Dogs in te City
OK - one last Fun Day Weekend Post! After Fun Day, we went with the Fresno groups on a ferry ride to San Francisco. Since Lulu was hanging with us for the weekend, she got to come too. We all the pups met up at the ferry building, then loaded on. We hung out together while the boat floated along.
Once we got to San Francisco, we all filed off, relieved, then headed off to the street cars. After a quick ride, we were at Pier 39! Lu's and I hung out with Tulani and Preston. Tulani is in our club and Preston is from Fresno.
We all stopped to take pictures at the back of the pier. It was great! We were such good dogs!
I did my best to look cute!

Fun Day - Brothers and Sisters!
OK! I'm a slacker! I know that this is one of the most important parts of Fun Day and that my Dog-ma is waiting waiting waiting to see my brothers and sisters! Sorry Dog-ma!
At first, it was just me and the yellows there. Delhi is my little sister and Duvall is my big brother. Well - at least his head was bigger than mine! Otherwise, we are similar in size (Hmm... I thought that my head would get bigger when the "Brain Fairy" came to visit. Someone didn't do their job right!)
This is Delhi:
This is Duvall
Mom says that we have similar smiles as well. He likes to give kisses to the girlies.
We were so excited to see each other that it was pretty hard to get a good picture of the three of us! We seemed to all sit and lie at different times. It's fun to drive our raisers just a little nuts when they are trying to get us all looking in the same direction at the same time!
After we were done with group pictures, Danell arrived! She was with puppy sitters that were not from her own club, so we didn't get to learn a whole lot about what she is like. But, she's cute! And looks a lot like me!
And, she gave me some good kisses!
I wish the others had been there! It would have been great to see all my brothers and sisters again! I hope that they are all being good dogs for their raisers and doing great!
More Fun Day to come - but today, we are off to the Exploratorium! Yippy!

Fun Day - Booth Time
Fun Day started bright and early! We had to get up earlier than we do to go to work! Crazy! I don't think Lulu had ever been up so early in her life! Luckily, we got to snooze in the car on the way.
When we got to Guide Dogs, the people got busy while Lulu and I occupied some crates. It was a lot of work to put up our Fun Day booth and get all our stuff ready to sell. We had great K9 Water Bottles and our Born To Lead shirts. Once we were all set up, it was time to sell!
When I wasn't demonstrating how our K9 Water Bottles work, I was hanging with my friends. Of course Lulu was there.
Tulani hung out with us too. She was a great sales lady!
Even Don came by for a visit! It was great to meet some of my blogging friends!
Then, it was my turn to man the cash box (I was going into water overload!) Dad handled the money, but I helped him count and keep track.
We had a great day in our booth! We are looking forward to some great outings this year and supporting our graduates with donations towards their harnesses!
Next up: Littermates!

Fun Day - the Preperations
OK! I know this is late! I've been a busy boy! (OK, not any more busy than normal really, but tired on top of being busy has kept be visiting my bed rather than my blogger friends!) I knew that something was up when Mom and Dad took me to the Dog Wash!
Dad does a great job of scrubbing me down! I always get nice and clean when he has me in the bath.
After the wet, comes the dry. I'm not sure why, but the only thing that gets really dry when they use the blower on me is my mouth.
Video Description: Dagan biting at the air from the blow drier, looking a bit crazy.
There was lots of counting shirts and organizing stuff in boxes too. Crazy! That's what it was! But, Gram showed up on Friday, which was WAY exciting! Then, when I thought there could be no more excitement, my friend Lulu showed up! This was shaping up to be a great weekend!
More to come!
